New Teachers Receive Training on Supporting Student Mental Health
Aug 20, 2025
On August 19, new teachers in the Mount Adams School District participated in a training designed to help them better support students’ mental health and well-being. The session explored current mental health and substance use trends among our students, providing both historical and modern context to better understand these challenges.
Teachers learned to identify signs and symptoms that a young person might be struggling and reviewed practical steps for how to offer support. The training equips educators with the knowledge and tools to respond effectively, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
“This training helps our new teachers understand not just what students are experiencing, but how we can respond in ways that make a real difference,” said Dana Jarnecke, the district's Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
