Mt. Adams Staff Complete Youth Mental Health First Aid for Tribal Communities Training

May 28, 2025

On Tuesday, May 27th, sixteen teachers and administrators from the Mt. Adams School District completed the Youth Mental Health First Aid for Tribal Communities training, strengthening the district’s commitment to supporting the mental health of Native youth.

This specialized training focuses on the unique experiences and challenges Tribal youth may face, including historical trauma, cultural identity, and access to care. Participants learned about the risk and protective factors specific to Tribal communities and practiced an action plan for recognizing and responding to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in young people.

By completing this training, Mt. Adams staff are now better equipped to provide culturally responsive support to students and help build a school environment where all youth feel seen, valued, and connected.
