LifeSkills Program Builds Strong Foundations for Mt. Adams Students
May 6, 2025
The Mt. Adams School District is continuing its commitment to prevention and positive youth development by bringing the LifeSkills Training program to all sixth and seventh grade students this school year. LifeSkills is an evidence-based program designed to promote mental health, build resilience, and reduce high-risk behaviors. Research shows that the program is effective in preventing drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, as well as reducing violence and other risky behaviors among young people. It also supports healthy decision-making, communication skills, and self-esteem. Last week, 59 seventh graders successfully completed the LifeSkills program—building tools to help them navigate middle school and beyond. Meanwhile, all sixth grade classes began the program this Monday, setting the stage for another group of students to gain these vital life skills. By introducing LifeSkills early, the district is laying the groundwork for stronger, healthier futures for our youth. |
