Coalition Takes Action to Address Alcohol Access in White Swan
May 20, 2026
On May 19th, the White Swan Community Coalition submitted a formal letter to the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) calling for action on alcohol access in White Swan. Along with the letter, the coalition delivered a powerful show of community support, including:
A community petition with 387 signatures
A student petition with 48 signatures
Letters from the Yakama Nation, Yakima County Commissioners, and the Mt. Adams School District Board
Letters from Senator King and Representatives Manjarrez and Mendoza
Letters from nine local businesses, churches, and community members
Letters from seven students
The breadth of this response — spanning Tribal government, elected officials, faith communities, local businesses, schools, and youth — reflects how deeply this issue resonates across the community.
The coalition has not yet received a response from the LCB but remains hopeful that this collective effort will lead to meaningful change. A sincere thank you to all workgroup members whose dedication and hard work made this submission possible.
