Coalition Receives $50,000 Mental Health Promotion Grant

The Washington State Health Care Authority has announced that the White Swan Community Coalition will receive a $50,000 grant to continue its mental health promotion efforts through 2023.
Grant funds will be used to support the Primary Project program at Harrah Elementary, community Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings, and awareness-raising activities such as the Harrah and White Swan wellness walks and the Crisis Text Line media campaign.
Primary Project is a national, evidence-based program that helps children in kinder through third grade adjust to school, gain confidence, develop social skills, and focus on learning.
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches caring adults how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Topics covered during the Youth Mental Health First Aid training include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
