Coalition Members Support PC-CARES Opioid Prevention Pilot
Mar 14, 2026
Several coalition members, including our coordinator, recently participated in a three-day trial implementation of the PC-CARES opioid overdose prevention curriculum being developed by the Yakama Nation as part of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant.
The trial run took place the week of March 9th at the Yakama Nation Corrections Center, where participants helped test and provide feedback on the curriculum. PC-CARES focuses on strengthening community understanding of substance use prevention and ways to support people who are struggling with substance use, including opioids.
This important work is being coordinated by coalition member Brianna Skahan-White, whose leadership continues to strengthen community efforts to address substance use and support community healing. We are grateful for the coalition members who contributed their time and insights to help advance this promising prevention effort.
